Tennessee State RR Course

I was in Knoxville for business yesterday and rode the State RR course. I was fortunate to link up with a couple of guys that I race with and who also knew the course well. The course could best be described as rolling with two climbs that are probably no more than 4 minutes long. I don't think the course itself is difficult enough to break up the race, but a concerted effort over and between the two climbs could cause some racers to fall off. The roads are fairly good, but one thing I do not like is that the feed zone is in the bottom third of the 2nd climb. With very few options for splitting the race, a climb is not the best place for a feed. The finish is reasonable and about .75 miles long and slightly uphill. I managed to bonk on the ride which is quite impressive as we were not really going very hard. I did intervals the night before, ate a small dinner, light breakfast and no lunch and boom. Otherwise training seems to be going pretty well. Power is the best it has been all season. Hope I can hold it a few more weeks.
